INSPIRATION

Inspiration, in a general sense, comes to me from the infinite beauty of life and of the world around me. There is a sense of being a tiny part of something so immense, so magnificent and so gloriously beautiful that makes me want to contribute to it. What is most inspiring to me, at this present moment, is the recognition and understanding that there is but one mind, one divine consciousness, that we are all one and that god is all there is. I am driven to create in order to express what I know about the great mystery we call life. Abstraction and sacred geometry, today, are more inspiring and compelling to me than representational realism. Ultimately, designing and using color (or no color) in the abstract ignite within me a primal ecstasy that comes very close to fulfilling my need for a reason to live.

TECHNIQUE

Being a wholly self-taught artist, I am also an inventor of many of my techniques. I learned how to carve wood by carving wood. Along my way, I picked up “Tricks of the Trade” either from direct observations or by accident. There have been far more accidents than observations. Parallel to my “Art Career”, I was also in my “Make a Living” career. Fine woodworking and carpentry were the vehicles used to make money and I was mostly self-taught in those fields as well. It has been a natural flow to incorporate wood working and carpentry skills into my art making. Sacred Geometric art is all about find woodworking techniques—figuring out and cutting wood at precise angles and that sort of thing. When it comes to coloring, my technique is a very basic simplicity of a great complexity. I use the color wheel to guide me in mixing colors and fitting them together. Color is an infinity within itself and playing in hues is a huge part of my art making.

In summary, my technique is whatever I can come up with at the moment to facilitate the achievement of the piece I am working on. This includes the use of known skills, as well as spur of the moment actions to get the creative effect that I want.
